Situated at a distance of about 290kms from Varanasi, Betla National Park is situated on the Chhota Nagpur Plateau in Jharkhand. Boasting of rich variety of flora and fauna, this national park was initially known as Palamau Wildlife Sanctuary. The park is dotted with bamboo and sal groves; towering mahua (local alcohol is prepared from the flowers of this tree) also covers a major part of the forest. Betla is home to elephants, leopards, tigers and several species of birds. There are many watch towers and hides that are meticulously deployed around the water holes for offering better opportunity to spot animals here. The park also has a two 16th century forts, few hot springs and tribal villages inside its premises.

The list of places to visit in Varanasi would be incomplete without including the famed Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and has also been referred to in the holy scriptures. Not everyone will consider this as a tourist spot. This is the cremation ground for Hindus. You can always spot glowing pyres in this region. Many earthen oil lamps will be left to flow on the river, as an offering. It is considered to be a sacred place on earth to be burnt to attain eternal salvation. The ghat is about 28 km away from the airport and just 3 km from railway station. You can find buses and other road transportation from the airport to the ghat. It would not take more than 35 minutes to reach the ghat from the airport.
